Dear Al-Hijra Academy Preschool Parent, Assalmu Alikum dear parents! My name is Sr.Samia and I will be your child’s teacher along with Sr. Tina. We are so excited to have the opportunity to teach your child and experience a year filled with wonderful moments and memories. Your child's first years of school are filled with many amazing moments. It's a time of social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development, and it can come and go before you know it. The skills learned at this stage -- knowing what sounds the letter A makes or adding 2 + 2 -- may seem simple but they will set your child up for a lifetime of learning. Preschool may look like all fun and games but there's plenty amount of brainwork going on. Young children learn through play and creative activity, so your preschooler's building blocks and train tracks aren't just there for fun; they are teaching them how to problem solve and communicate. Preschool is also a time for developing good learning habits and positive self-esteem. However, the most important thing that your child will learn this year is their Deen and the Arabic language. Your child will learn about Allah (SWT) and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and will learn the duaas and Surahs. The learning milestones your child will achieve this year is the following:
Socializing and Sharing Developing important social skills is necessary before starting kindergarten; preschoolers will learn how to share and cooperate, to work together and take turns, to participate in group activities and follow simple directions, and to communicate wants and needs. When they start kindergarten, they get dropped off, and the parents have to leave, so children have to be able to speak up for themselves, they need to know how to ask for help.
Snacks and Lunch Al-Hijra Academy is a peanut free facility. All drinks are either water or milk. We will be providing a morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack on a daily basis. If you have any questions or concerns about the menus, feel free to discuss them with any of the preschool teachers.
Nap Time Please provide your child with a pillow and blanket and bed sheet for a comfortable napping experience.
Extra Clothes We request each child to bring an extra change of clothes (including underwear and socks) in a large Ziploc bag labeled with your child’s name and water bottle. We are looking for a great year with your child!
